Bring a bit of nostalgia to someone you love by sending the gift of a private personalized violin concert, called ViolinSerenade. With music’s special way of touching the soul, music can be the most heartfelt gift. Music elicits memories, heightens emotions, and brings about smiles.
ViolinSerenade is a unique way for family members and friends to send their best wishes to a loved one residing in a long term care setting. ViolinSerenade offers a half-hour personalized concert performed by accomplished Violinist Julie Nissa Bloch. As a Board Certified Music Therapist, Julie has specialized knowledge and experience working with older adults. She knows how to make a ViolinSerenade meaningful and comforting to those living away from home at all types of living facilities.
The Gift of Music

For most musicians the larger the audience the better, but for Julie Bloch there’s nothing more satisfying than an audience of one. Bringing the “live” music experience to a population for whom attending a concert poses certain difficulties, Ms. Bloch travels South Florida’s tri-county area playing both popular and classical favorites on the violin for seniors in residential communities for birthdays, anniversaries, and also holiday wishes. Her degree in Music Therapy provides her with an understanding of how meaningful music can be, especially when the program can be tailored to the listener. To that end, Ms. Bloch has begun this service she calls ViolinSerenade.

“Julie’s a real pro,” says Beth Pennington, Activity Director at The Plaza at Deer Creek. She knows how to make a person feel special, drawing them out just enough to overcome shyness in what can often be a traumatic change of life.”

Of course, Julie is often engaged for a full concert for an entire facility but she finds a real satisfaction in offering one on one, personalized concerts to celebrate a special event or to mark a milestone in a person’s life.

When contacted by a friend or family member who has learned of this unique service, Julie gets details which will aid her selection of pieces to be performed.

With the wealth of recorded music now available on radio, T.V., CD, etc., the bond between performer and audience has suffered. Few people realize that a little over one hundred years ago the only music one could hear was live and in person. Great performers were looked at and listened to by their audiences and much of their success was based on their personalities as well as their talent. That’s why Julie Bloch’s ViolinSerenade makes such a lasting mark on those lucky enough to receive such a wonderful treat.
