Board Certified Music Therapist, Julie Bloch has extensive experience working with older adults. She is a former Activity Director at a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility and has given several seminars underlining the importance of Music Therapy and how it helps older adults.
Julie currently services several Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Independent Living Facilities as a Music Therapist and Violin Entertainer.
In Music Therapy groups, Ms. Bloch uses music as a catalyst to help residents reach a higher mental and physical state. She cognitively challenges residents with musical trivia, increases motor coordination through structure movements, and encourages reminiscence and interaction among the group members through various music topics. She brings a plethora of props such as rhythm instruments, colorful scarves, and a free - flowing parachute to help engage residents. Julie encourages the participants to sing, play music, and most importantly, to have fun.
